{"id":1016,"date":"2017-10-11T15:05:01","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T15:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.bpfonline.co.uk\/?p=1016"},"modified":"2026-01-28T12:31:58","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T12:31:58","slug":"pop-up-socket-install-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bpfonline.co.uk\/blog\/pop-up-socket-install-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Install a Pop Up Socket: Milan Range"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to it\u2019s versatile nature, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bpfonline.co.uk\/search.asp?catid=3173\">Milan<\/a> can either be hard wired directly to the mains or used as a deluxe extension socket as it\u2019s already fitted with a mains plug \u2013 please bear in mind that although the Milan is available as a special order to suit other electrical systems, this particular model is designed for the UK 240v 3-Pin Plug system only.<\/p>\n<h2>Important Information:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t remove protective film from the cover disc until you are sure you\u2019re planning to keep the unit.<\/li>\n<li>Please ensure there is enough space available underneath the unit prior to installation to accommodate the shoulder washer. There must also be enough space for the mains lead (and a data cable on certain models) to run unhindered.<\/li>\n<li>The unit is designed around worktop thicknesses of between 20mm and 55mm.<\/li>\n<li>When removing the protective film from the chrome top by hand, do not use any sharp instruments or they will scratch \/ damage the chrome top.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Installation Guide:<\/h2>\n<h3>Before you start:<\/h3>\n<p>Please ensure:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have room on top for a hole size of 124mm (or 101mm if not using the flush fit adaptor)<\/li>\n<li>There will be enough space below for the unit to fully retract and for the cables to run unhindered from the base of the unit.<\/li>\n<li>The worktop is at least 20mm but no greater than 55mm in thickness<\/li>\n<li>There is adequate space available underneath to accommodate the shoulder washer and enable access to tighten \/ clamp.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bpfonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pop-Up-Depth-and-Hole-Size-Dia.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-963 alignnone\" alt=\"Pop Up Depth and Hole Size Dia\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bpfonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pop-Up-Depth-and-Hole-Size-Dia.png\" width=\"443\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bpfonline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pop-Up-Depth-and-Hole-Size-Dia.png 693w, https:\/\/www.bpfonline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pop-Up-Depth-and-Hole-Size-Dia-271x300.png 271w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Steps:<\/h3>\n<p>1.
