Home offices can be a personal thing. What suits one person, won’t necessarily suit another.

Here are some of our favourite inspirational offices, and some information to help you find the same stunning home office look.

A breath of fresh air

""

A low-cost desk can be built from fitting a wooden rectangular or L-shaped desk top into a nook or crevice of your home.

If you don’t have a nook flanked by walls capable of supporting a desk, you can use self-supporting desk legs to hold up one end, with the other supported by a bracket on the wall.

Beneath the desk, a handy under-desk storage cabinet is perfectly positioned to store any papers, files and even stationery close to hand. Depending on the look you want to achieve, you can go for a stylishly curved metal under desk mobile pedestal drawer unit, or a more angular under desk storage unit to mirror the straight edges of the desk.

An adjustable chair on castors is an inviting element and we’d recommend something like the Nias Medium Executive Office Chair to create the perfect finishing touch for your home office.

In this particular home office, a shallower shelf has been made from the same desktop material positioned above to store books and files.

Wall colours are kept neutral and plants are used to bring a pop of colour and calm to the environment. Of course, plants do more than just bring colour to an office. They are believed to keep contaminants in the air down, with some experts even suggesting that plants in an office can actually help boost brainpower by improving air quality. You can get plants from anywhere on the high street, or even at the supermarket. However, for beautiful pot plant displays delivered to your door, we like Beards and Daisies.

The Drawing Room

""

This home worker has created an office where the desk makes a real statement. We’d recommend one of our Executive desks such as the Executive 4 Leg Office Meeting Desk. Because you can purchase the desk structure without the desk top, you can then choose the right desktop for your office -whether you want to go for a marble effect like in the office featured, or whether your prefer a more neutral white.

The desk is flanked by a pair of armchairs, rather than office chairs. If you’re after a modern look then you can try the Asta-A Cantilever Chair in black leather, but if you’re after a more traditional look, you can find some stylish and comfortable chairs in department stores or online.

A collage of pictures on the wall behind the desk soften the look, making the space look and feel more like a drawing room than an office and built-in storage offers a discrete space to store files, folders and books.

The Hideaway

""

This office is all about discretion. And just because it’s discrete doesn’t mean it can’t also be beautiful. This hideaway office features a drop-down wall cabinet desk that is dressed to be both functional and inviting.

The office uses neutral colours to maintain a light and airy feel and uses simple wall décor such as the dried flower ring to add interest.

This drop-down cabinet wall desk provides just the right amount of working space when open, but can easily be closed again when not in use. Because the panels and the frame can be purchased separately, you can choose panels that fit your colour scheme. We even have the wooden panels available as shelves that you could use to line the walls with all your favourite reads, or a few carefully chosen items.

Select a stool from our carefully selected range of seating to finish the look.

The collector

""

This office really moves away from neutrals and embraces bold clutter and collections.

It uses versatile storage cubes similar to our U-Cube modular furniture system for books, files, records and more. And, for all those things that don’t fit into the storage cubes, there are pegboards. However, pegboards aren’t for everyone, so a great alternative are magnetic boards which you can choose what attachments you feature according to what you need to store or tidy.

Bright wallpaper really sets off the eclectic nature of this room and is teamed with a dark desk.

By teaming an X-Leg office desk with a dark wood desk top such as the and a simple chair, you can create this eccentric but homely look in your home office.
