40x20mm Rectangular M8 Threaded Tube Insert | 1.5-2.5mm Wall

40x20mm metric rectangular ribbed M8 threaded tube inserts designed to push into rectangular / oblong tube to act as a foot, with an outside or external dimension of 40x20mm, to suit a 1.5 to 2.5mm wall thickness.  Unlike standard ribbed tube inserts used for finishing and capping off, these threaded / tapped inserts are used for feet or castors to screw in to, giving you the option of height adjustment or mobility.

Threaded inserts by their nature will be made from a harder material than normal tube inserts, as the integrity of the thread needs to remain intact when coupled with a foot or castor and they're all designed to retain themselves inside tube, with the head sitting over the outer ends of the tube or box section, sitting flush with the outside edges of the tube and providing a neat finished appearance.

Tube inserts are always listed the same way that tube is listed because the head of the insert needs to marry up with the outside edges of the tube.  They often come in a variety of wall thicknesses and gauge sizes but if you're unsure on fit, you can click the 'Request Sample' button, or for help measuring your tube, try out this useful sizing pdf.

Q: So no idea if 4 of these could hold up a person on a stool? What are these used for generally? Surely they can not be purely decorative?

A: No, they're not purely decorative - they're designed for a practical purpose, which is why we reference the fact they're designed to be used with Feet and Castors in our Product Description. They are used in general industrial applications, furniture being one of them and in all the time we've sold them, we've never heard of one of them fail on application. However, we list other options at the bottom of page, under cross-selling which you may find work better for you!

Q: How much weight will these hold. I am a commercial furniture designer and need an insert that will hold up in a commercial restaurant setting. Has to fit USA 1.5" x .75" legs. The ones I use now fron another source break contsantly.

A: I'm afraid these parts haven't been load tested but that's not to say they wouldn't be suitable for the job.
