These 14mm round ribbed tube inserts are designed to provide a clean, secure finish for hollow round tubes and pipes. The tops of the inserts are a shallow dome, so they tend to get used as end caps for finishing off and sealing tube, rather than as feet - as the full dome or angled options listed within this same section, are more suitable as a foot with a more pronounced dome not wearing down as quickly.

The other advantage with these half dome inserts, is they just offer a bit more in the way of details on the finish, than you'd get with an otherwise bog standard flat insert with the slightly 'half' domed top, giving a more aesthetic appearance.  If it's more of an angled foot you're after, then we have full domed and angled options or we also have a range of Tiltserts which may work better for you.

The head diameter is designed to sit flush with the outside of the tube whilst the shank has flexible horizontal ribs to suit a multitude of tube walls, in a range of both metric and imperial sizes.  Thanks to the flexible lateral ribs running around the shank of the insert, they should be suitable for tube wall thickness of between 1 to 2mm metric (14-20 gauge imperial), unless otherwise stated.

Manufactured from durable LDPE plastic, they are commonly used as protective end caps, tube feet, and finishing plugs across furniture, fabrication, and light industrial applications. They're designed to retain themselves inside tube, with the head sitting over the outer ends of the tube or pipe, sitting flush with the outside circumference of the tube and providing a neat finished appearance.

Key Features:

  • Fits hollow tube or pipe with a 14mm outer dimension
  • Manufactured from resilient LDPE
  • Ribbed design for secure fitting
  • Helps protect floors from exposed tube ends, reducing noise and marking
  • Available in multiple colours
  • Designed primarily for indoor use but can be used outside but not UV stabilised as standard
  • Enhanced head profile, providing a enhanced finish to an otherwise standard flat insert

Technical Information:

  • Tube or pipe profile: Round
  • External tube size: Ø14mm
  • Tube wall thickness: 1-2mm
  • Suggested internal fit: 10-12mm approx. (different factors affect this, including coatings, weld lines and tolerance)
  • Material: Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
  • Fitting type: Push-fit ribbed insert

Suitable for:

  • Angled legs on office and workshop furniture
  • Foot bungs for chairs and tables
  • Plastic stoppers for Round hollow tubes and pipes
  • Feet for display systems
  • Post caps for gates and railings
  • Tube end caps for light fabrication projects
  • Protective tube ends for finishing
  • Ribbed knock-in inserts for POS and shopfitting

Tube inserts are always listed the same way that tube is listed because the head of the insert needs to marry up with the outside edges of the tube.  They often come in a variety of wall thicknesses and gauge sizes but if you're unsure on fit, you can click the 'Request Sample' button, or for help measuring your tube, try out this useful sizing pdf.

If this isn't quite right for your application, check out our other inserts for round tube here and if you're not looking to plug the end of a piece of hollow tube and instead after a generic hole plug, then maybe one of our covers caps or panel plugs will work better for you.

Bought to plug end of Fritz Hansen 3107 chairs but doesn't work. Something like 10/12mm would fit.

Response from BPF Websales
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not familiar with that particular chair I'm afraid, but essentially as these inserts are designed to go into tube, it's really just a case of accurately measuring the tube. In order to assist customers with that, we do publish a free tube & wire fittings buying guide on our website, which lets you know exactly how the tube needs to be measured.

Not sure if it helps at this stage, but just thought I'd mention it!

Q: Hi. I am after some half dome inserts to fit ( tap ) into the end of some aluminium tubing. the tube has a 13 mm bore and 19mm outside diameter. so can you tell me if I would need a 14mm dia half rib or another size please. Thanks Mick.

A: Hello and thankyou for your enquiry, From the information you've given me, you're after a tube insert to suit a 19mm (or 3/4") tube, with a 3mm (or 10swg) wall thickness. Unfortunately this isn't really a standard size as the 3mm wall thickness is not a stock option. So all I can really offer is an insert that would possibly suit the bore size but the head wouldn't sit flush with the outside diameter of the tube, so you could consider either a 16mm or 18mm diameter, as a possible solution. Or if the head finishing flush is paramount, then you could consider manually chopping down the ribs on a 19mm (or 3/4) diameter standard insert. The only other option I can think of is to go for a cover cap which is really just designed for plugging holes in panels, we have one to suit a 13mm hole but the head size is only 17mm, so it will finish shy of your tube. If this is worth considering then our part code is F-05010-013008. Hope that helps! BPF WebSales
