Since 2020, the market for desk screens has been transformed.
Desk screens not only reduce noise and offer a degree of privacy in the open-plan offices that are so popular today, they have also become an increasingly popular way to reduce infection transmission in open plan offices. By creating a barrier to airborne particles, they minimise the risk of illnesses spreading through particles emitted in coughs and sneezes.
So, what are the different desk screen options and how do you go about choosing one to suit you?
Edge mount screens are perfectly designed to help prevent the spread of illnesses or infections through coughing and sneezing. These transparent acrylic screens clamp on to the end of a desk and are perfect for offices, reception desks and even cash desks in retail businesses. These are available in a 600mm height for positioning on the side of desks or between two desks, or in a 750mm height, offering greater protection from airborne viruses at the back of the desk, which would be particularly useful where two workstations face each other.
Some desks may already offer a degree of protection with a desk divider in place, but in this post-pandemic world, it can be sensible to increase the height of the cough and sneeze barrier, particularly where employees sit closely together. For these situations, we have plug on hygiene screens that sit on a fork-like plug that rests on top of the original desk divider. With widths that range from 600mm to 1800mm, we’re bound to have a hygiene desk screen to fit your set-up.
For more temporary screen use, a standalone desk divider or desk screen can be just the solution. Available with or without a cut-out, these desk screens are made from acrylic to avoid interfering with customer or colleague communications and daily interactions while offering protection from airborne particles. These desk screens are also really easy to keep clean and hygienic and are available with acrylic or metal feet.
For those who are after something specific, we have a modular desk screen and toolbar system which gives you the freedom and flexibility to build your own desk-mounted office screens. By cherry-picking the attachments, profile sizes and screen materials that you want, you can find a desk screen that fits the look and feel of your office and the furniture already within it. This modular system is particularly useful for offices undergoing upheaval or those with a regular turnover. By holding stocks of the individual components, you can build desk screens to fit the space needed, at the time needed. Then, when no longer required, the components can be reused for the next desk screen – even if it is needed in a completely different area. Simply choose from a pair of universal screen support pillars, available in white or silver/aluminium, find the screen divider feet you need and add your screen. For additional height add the PlexyGlass Over Screen which sits on top of our Wall 14 screens or to fill gaps below the screen, you can choose a Screen Gap Filler.
And, If you have any further questions about how to build a modular desk screen system, you can chat with a BPF Online product advisor through our website and they’ll guide you to finding the right desk screen solution for your needs.
