In our earlier blog ‘Different types of desk screens and why it matters’ we looked at the increasing popularity of desk screens or desk dividers. With the growth of open-plan offices and an increased realisation of how infection spreads, desk dividers have justified their place in the office.
You can buy ready-made desk screens, or you can choose a modular system that enables you to retrospectively fit desk dividers to the desks in your offices. However, before you click ‘purchase’ here are a few things you need to consider when choosing a desk divider.
The intention behind your desk screen dividers
Consider whether you want your desk screen simply to reduce the transmission of infection, or whether it’s more about privacy and workspace management. The purpose of your desk divider or desk screen will determine whether you have a screen gap filler, an overscreen or even the type of screen that you want. So, If it is all about reducing infection transmission and working safely in an open-plan office, then consider having a taller screen on the back of the desk and shorter side dividers. If it’s about workspace management, a desk screen gap filler will ensure papers don’t slip from one desk to the other.
Desk screen length and depth
All of our modular desk divider components come in lengths of 1000mm, 1200mm, 1400mm, 1600mm, 1800mm, 2000mm so whatever, your needs, we’ll have a desk divider or desk screen to fit.
How high do you want the divider screen to be?
Standard desk dividers or desk screens tend to be 369mm, but if you feel that a taller screen would reduce sound travel in the office or even the risk of infection, an extension such as our Plexiglass Over Screen could be a good solution, giving an additional 167mm of height to your desk divider.
How many sides should the desk screen sit on?
Do people sit next to each other, opposite each other, or is there a bank of desks with people each side, and another opposite? This kind of information will help you determine how your screens should be designed and the components you’ll need. Use this to determine the layout of your desks and the screens you’ll use. The great thing about the modular desk screen system is that the system can be reused and reformatted as your office needs change.
Choose your desk divider panel
All our panels come in either fabric or PMMA Acrylic so you can choose what type of panel you’d like based on the aesthetics of your office and the need for privacy between the desks.
Accessorize smartly
The desk screen toolbar can be used to create storage space or to make an office space more efficient with accessories such as monitor arms, stationery trays and more. Consider the best way to get clutter up off desk surfaces making them easy to clean and convenient to keep clear.
Colour
You can choose the colour of the main posts and interim posts for the desk screen to find the look that best works for your office. Choose from silver or white to match seamlessly with the rest of your office furniture.
