1/2-5/8" Tube Adjuster - 2-Part Twistlock Design

A Tube Adjuster designed to Adjust & Lock Telescopic Tubes, available in a number of different sizes, with a Two-Piece Screw-Together Design, for crimping the tube in place. These Parts are made from Strong Nylon and as such don't particularly have any 'give' in them, so they won't work effectively if your tube is oversize, due to either manufacturing tolerances or maybe if the tube has been painted or coated.

We'd advise that the smaller tube should measure no more than 12.8mm o/d at it's absolute maximum, or largest point. To help in deciding if the part will be suitable, as well as the technical drawing link below, there's also a more detailed drawing available to view in the technical data tab which you might find useful.

The technology has been brought over from the household market where a simpler version of this adjuster, has been used on extendable dusters etc. These Parts can have have many uses including Clothes Props, Retractable Poles, Wheel Axles and many more applications and it actually comes supplied as two separate parts, a Body and a Nut.

The big advantage with this type of model over the Thumbscrew design we also supply, is both parts are kept captive when assembled, so it's almost impossible to lose parts!  As with all our Tubular Products, we list them exactly as you would buy the tube so it's Outside Tube Dimension x Wall Thickness / Gauge Size.

We show standard colours & finishes where possible but these are constantly changing so if you require a colour not listed in the drop-down, speak to us as we may well have added it since.

Found it fitted my fishing accessory. Perfectly, dimensions are accurate, only downside was it is very difficult to undo when tightened, even though not fully tight but hopefully will loosen off as it wears in

The part was too small to allow 1/2" tube to fit inside.

Thanks for your feedback. I've got the factory to check the tool that makes this part, along with the components it produces to confirm it's fit for purpose.

The conclusion is that because the item is 'fit critical' due to the tightening design, the absolute maximum size of tube it can accommodate is a tube with an outside diameter of no more than 12.80mm at it's largest point.

Bearing in mind that 1/2" should measure up as 12.7mm, then that should be fine, although we obviously can't legislate for the tolerance of the tube producers, whether or not it's 'true' round or if the tube has been painted or coated - or if the tube is purely just oversize, as has been the case in the past with this product.

If you've measured the tube precisely with a vernier or micrometer and you're getting it to come up under 12.8mm continiously across a number of random areas, then I'm more than happy to raise a NCR (Non Conformance Report) and get our quality control to look again at it for you and if the tool needs looking at or modifying, then we can look into the possibility of this.

All we'd need is a section of your tube to be sent to us and we'll happily investigate it for you. Incidentally, you might find the 'thumbscrew' tube adjuster design has more tolerance so if you want to explore this option then please let us know, but you can find images and a technical drawing of this on our site.

Q: Do we have to glue the tube adjuster on the larger tube ?

A: Hello. This part is designed to crimp the tube in place, so as long as the tubes are the correct size for the adjuster then no other adhesives or tools are required. I hope this assists. Kind regards, BPF
