3 Ways BPF Online is helping customers keep carbon footprints low

The pressure is on for businesses to become more sustainable and to reduce their carbon footprint. Whether you’re aiming to achieve ISO 14000 or simply want to feel you’re doing your bit for the planet, you can manage your actions and strategies to create a more sustainable business.

What is a carbon footprint?

Your business’s carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gasses generated by what you do and how you run your business. ESG Pro estimate the carbon footprint of an SME office-based business with around 10 employees to be around 37 tons of CO2e per year. That’s not a small amount, so it stands to reason that we should do anything we can to reduce our individual contributions.

How is BPF helping businesses reduce their carbon footprint

Not only do we, at BPF Online, do what we can to reduce our own carbon footprint, we also help our customers to keep their carbon footprint in check too. Here are three ways that we try and support our customers with their environmental targets and credentials:

  1. We have products that encourage or facilitate waste recyclingProducts such as our under-desk recycling bins make it easier for employees to separate out their recyclable waste at the point of disposal.
  2. We create bespoke plastic fittings designed to make it easy to repair items rather than send them to waste. By being able to cost-effectively repair household, office or medical items, there’s less need to send items to landfill and less pressure on the earth’s resources in the creation of new products. The types of items we produce include mobility frame fittings and components such as walking stick feet, crutch cuffs, adjustable feet for furniture, clothesline prop fittings, rotary airer fittings, tent and tent pole fittings, flipchart and easel fittings and more.  That’s a whole lot of metal, plastic and wood that doesn’t have to be sent to landfill.
  3. The third key way that we support our customers in reducing their carbon footprint is through making our products flexible wherever possible. For example, our K-series of modular desks makes it easy for desks to be configured and reconfigured according to a business’ needs. Therefore, if the office requirements change, additional desks or components can be added of removed according to need.
