Cable Management System

Cable Management System | Now’s The Time!

Following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, businesses across the globe are having to adapt to life under lock-down. And with employees working from home (where possible), many offices are now sitting emptily. However, while the office sits dormant, this may now be the perfect opportunity for a reshuffle in anticipation for their return.

One task that is often overlook within offices is an effective cable management system. It is important to have a proper system in place, and not just because it provides you with a neat and tidy workspace.

Computer CablesAside from being an obvious trip hazard, they can also be a fire hazard. And what’s more, an efficient cable management system helps establish troubleshooting device / network issues, getting up back up and running more quickly! An efficient system can also extend and maintain the performance of the power cables over time.

It’s certainly not to be overlooked, and so now may be the time to get a system in place; while working in a safe and peaceful environment.

So, what are your options and where do you start? Quite simply, a cable management system is designed to efficiently organise cables and wiring. And here at BPF, we offer a wide range of components to help you complete your cable management system!

What types of cable management system are there?

There are many options available to help you complete your cable management set up. However, deciding which components you need isn’t actually as tricky as it may seem.

The below parts are all used to support and safely route cables through from the desktop to power source, as you’ll see in the diagram.

  • Cable Ports

A cable port (or cable grommet) can be a ring of rubber, metal, plastic or even wood. This ring is designed to allow cables and wiring to pass through a desktop safely. They are also available a wide range of shapes and finishes; ranging from circular and oval to square and rectangular. Furthermore, designed to be push-fit into an industry standard Ø60mm or Ø80mm diameter hole.

  • Cable Cradles

Cable cradle systems are designed to suspend and separate cables. These fixings allow users to channel the cable routing along the underside of the work top and keep them hidden from site.

  • Cable Baskets & Cable Trays

A cable basket is a wire-like cable tray that supports and suspends cables and wiring. Generally, they are clipped or screw-fixed to the underside of the table through a bracket which holds it firmly in place.

  • Cable Snakes

Cable snakes allow for safe passaging of multiple cables in either a vertical or horizontal direction. They are commonly found within offices, neatly routing cables from the computer set up to the power source. They are also available in a wide range of profiles and lengths.

  • Cable Clips & Knuckles

These are designed to clip onto cables to keep them separated / evenly spaced. They are available in different designs, with some being clipped from cable to cable, others can clip onto the table leg and allow for cables to be clipped onto it; effectively using the table leg as a spacer.

  • Floor Trunking

This is designed to safely route cables across flooring. Much like a cable snake in function, except they have a much lower profile to prevent trip hazards and provide extra protection to the cables.
