LLDPE Ferrules | New Range

Here at BPF, we’re pleased to announce the arrival of our new range of LLDPE Ferrules.

LLDPE Ferrules

What are Ferrules?

Ferrules are a type of external fitting end cap designed to push fit onto the ends of tubes, pipes or poles. This seals the base/opening and provides a protective coating to the rim and edges.

Where are they commonly found?

Ferrules are commonly found throughout the construction and trade industries, capping off constructive metalwork.

However, they are also used frequently for domestic use. Due to their simple yet diverse range of properties, Ferrules can be used across a variety of applications. As such, they can be found throughout schools, universities, libraries and shops; being used as furniture feet (such as chair feet or table feet) to cap off the furniture legs and prevent against scratches, scrapes and impact damage to carpets and hard flooring.

What’s new with these Ferrules?

These Ferrules are made from LLDPE (Linear low-density polyethylene). LLDPE is a composite form of LDPE, where the film has a greater flexibility, tensile strength, impact strength, puncture resistance, and environmental stress-crack resistance than LDPE. Subsequently, these properties make it ideal for producing ferrules and end caps.

Due to its wide range of properties, LLDPE is also commonly used in the following applications:

  • Bottle caps
  • Containers
  • Lids
  • Door mats
  • Dustbins & other large housewares
  • Compounding applications (RQ version)

What other options do we offer?

LDPE Ferrules:

We do also offer standard LDPE Ferrules.

LDPE Ferrules

These Ferrules are particularly suited to capping off tubes, pipes and poles over using an LDPE tube inserts, as the cap design provides more all-rounded protection than an insert would.

LDPE offers Flexibility with a low tensile strength, in addition to moisture, chemical, heat and Impact resistance. It is these properties that make LDPE ferrules suited to metal framework and for use on furniture legs (as furniture feet).

Vinyl Caps:

We also offer vinyl caps, or ‘PVC Caps’ as they are also known.

Vinyl End Caps.

Vinyl is extremely flexible and malleable as a plastic, which enables them to fit a wider range of diameters; accommodating for minor inaccuracies when measuring.

Along with LDPE and LLDPE, these are also ideal for capping, protecting, masking and sealing off tubes, pipes and poles. However, PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is sometimes preferred over PE (polyethylene) as it offers higher flexibility, water resistance and heat resistance than its counterparts.

Vinyl’s range of properties make it perfect for used across a wide range of industries for an extensive range of applications; ranging from window frames and drainage pipes,  to flooring and stationary, and even fashion and footwear.
