Factors driving demand in the South of England for medical equipment parts across the South of England

Demand for medical equipment and medical equipment components in the South of England is being driven by the UK’s ageing population.

The 2021 census confirmed that more than 18.6% (11 million people) are over 65 years of age compared to just 16.4% of the population a decade ago. The 2021 Census also revealed more than half a million UK residents older than 90. Even the median age of people in Britain has increased from 39 years to 40 years.

On top of this ageing population, we’re also seeing a reduction in mobility among the UK population. In the same decade, the percentage of the population that is registered disabled has increased from 19% to 22%.

The increasing life span, the aging population and the reduction in mobility together are creating pressure on the demand for costly medical equipment. And, with pinched budgets, businesses, NHS trusts and care homes are all recognising the need to reuse and recycle, rather than replace.

Thankfully, medical equipment is robust too. It often has to take a lot of weight and heavy use, and failing is not an option. That isn’t to say that medical equipment doesn’t need repair. Sometimes, spare medical equipment components can be difficult to get hold of but once you’ve got hold of the component, it’s usually typically easy to fix.

At BPF Online, we stock all sorts of components for medical equipment that can help GP surgeries, hospitals, clinics and care homes to get medical equipment repaired and back up and running in no time. And all of our components are easy to fit, robust and high quality. We even offer cost savings for trusts, practices or businesses buying in quantity.

Just some of the medical equipment components that we stock include arm band cuffs and replacement handles for crutches and anti-rattle rings for telescopic tubes for crutches, zimmer frames and walking sticks. We also sell spring buttons for height-adjustable tubes and poles that are perfect for crutches, zimmer frames, toilet aids and walking sticks and even non-slip crutch tips for the end of crutches and walking sticks, raised seats, and walking frames.

We don’t limit ourselves to medical equipment repairs, we also sell other items for the medical industry, including sharps disposal bottles. For more information on the medical equipment spares available at BPF Online, contact our helpful advisors on our chat at www.bpfonline.co.uk.
