Harness that ‘back to school’ feeling when you’re back to work with these office hacks

It’s the time of year when the back-to-school nostalgia kicks in. But why should kids get all the fun? With these office hacks to keep things tidy at work, even grownups can tap into that feeling of back-to-school newness.

For many of us, through our, September became a time of new pencil cases, stiff shirt collars and shoes that rubbed on the heel. Back to school was a time of fresh starts and great organisation.

Everything was fresh, tidy and easy to navigate.

You may not be returning to school but, even going back to the office, you can unleash that fresh-start feeling with these great organisational buys to kick-start new habits:

Ditch phone charge cables with a wireless charger

With a wireless phone charger, you can ditch those pesky cables. Simply place your phone in the correct spot to charge it. When you take a call, pick it up and away you go. With a wireless phone charger, you don’t have to plug and unplug the phone each time you need to charge up, and you don’t have the disappointment of not remembering to plug it in to charge or forgetting to turn it on at the wall.

Ensure your power is accessible

For those devices where wireless charging isn’t an option, you’ll still need easy access to your power sockets. If you, like most office workers, have to crawl beneath your desk and fish around for cables, try one of our desk-clamp power sockets. Simple plug them in like a normal socket and the unit clamps onto the edge of your desk giving you easy access to 3-pin sockets and even USB sockets, when you need it.

Get a standing desk and do things differently

There are supposed to be a wide range of health benefits to standing, so by purchasing a standing desk, you could be adding years to your life.

Standing is good for the circulatory system and helps relieve pressure on the spine, which can cause problems when we sit for long periods of time. A sit/stand desk means you can sit when you want to but stand when you can. You can read more about the benefits of a standing desk in our blog ‘Why a sit/stand desk is good for your health’.

Get your screen height right

Show yourself some love this autumn and get your set-up right for your posture. A single monitor arm set-up will enable you to position your screen at the optimum height for good posture, but if you use two arms for your work, a double monitor arm or holder can improve the usability of your dual screen set-up, helping you create a seemingly single workspace to focus on.

Keep pens and pencils close to hand (but not too close)

The final tip is to invest in a pull-out pen and pencil tray to keep your pencils and pens on hand (while still being able to tidy them away). This pull-out tray is discrete, inexpensive and versatile, perfect for all your desk tidy nicknacks, while being even tidier than a desk tidy.
