Unhinged – your guide to the hinges available at BPF Online

For cupboard or door fixes, upcycling of cabinets or even kitchen repairs, we have the perfect hinge for your build or repair project. At BPF Online, our hinges are both cost-effective and easy to fit. In fact, the biggest challenge when it comes to buying hinges for your build or repair project is knowing what type of hinge to choose. In this blog, we’ll be demystifying hinges once and for all so you can log on with purpose and buy with ease.

Regular Hinges

Plastic Hinges -General Use

Our wide range of general-use plastic hinges start with load ratings of 70kg and go right up to 200kg. Made of black reinforced nylon, these hinges are made to Industrial Standards. We have general-use hinges perfect for any application where an articulating joint is required in a 4mm thickness. Our hinges have stainless steel nylon pins which resist rusting. This makes them perfect even for tightly controlled environments such as the catering sector. They provide resistance to opening and closing mechanisms and offer a 270-degree maximum angle of rotation. These hinges come with a choice of one hole or two and with standard or countersunk screws.

Heavy-Duty Hinges

These heavy-duty plastic hinges are similar to our industrial standard general-use plastic hinges but are made from 7mm reinforced nylon to make them more hard-wearing.

One hole or two?

Your application will determine which type of screw options and hole options will work better for you. Two holes spread the load more. Choose countersunk holes for areas where it’s possible that hands, clothes or germs could get caught around the head of the screw.

Combined Offset Plastic Hinges

Offset plastic hinges, or as we tend to refer to them combined hinges can widen doorways providing up to an additional 2 inches of clearance space. They do this by moving the pivot point of the door away from where the hinge attaches which can make it easier to get large objects through doors.

Again, these offset plastic hinges come with both standard screw and countersunk screw options. They are made from reinforced nylon and are available in a 4mm or 7mm thickness.

Piano Hinges

Piano hinges don’t get their name from their purpose – they get their name from their continuous length. Sometimes, they are referred to as a continuous hinge. A piano hinge is made of two long leaves with a single rod that runs down the centre and holds the leaves together.  It’s perfect for fold-down applications, storage boxes, cabinet doors, desks and more. They also come in a wide range of finishes such as galvanised zinc, gold, black or brown to work with your colour scheme.
